OXFORD - Miami University's men's swimming team opened its 2007-08 home schedule Friday, losing to Big Ten power Ohio State, 127-74, at the Nixon Aquatic Center.

Two RedHawk individuals won events against the Buckeyes. Senior Paul Ricard captured the 1650-yard freestyle in a time of 15:34.41, edging Ohio State's Mark Neiman by less than four seconds. Miami senior Ryan McHugh took the 100-yard freestyle with a clocking of :45.79, narrowly beating OSU's Matt Voelker.

Miami's only other event victory came in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Sophomore Dave Brown, senior Chase Mortimer, senior Nick DuPuis and McHugh teamed up in a time of 3:11.61.

McHugh almost won the 50-yard freestyle, finishing just :00.13 behind Voelker.

Miami's dual meet record falls to 3-3 this season. Its next action comes on Nov. 29 when it hosts the Miami Invitational at the Nixon Aquatic Center.
