Final Stats

OXFORD, Ohio -- Despite an impressive day from junior Scott Robson (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South), Miami University's men's swimming and diving team came up short in its 2004-05 season opener, falling 139-97, to Ohio State University.

Robson captured Miami's only two wins on the evening, winning the 200 butterfly in 1:53.64 and capturing the 500 freestyle in 4:44.11. He was more than two seconds better than second-place finisher and teammate sophomore Michael Donohoe (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) in the 200 fly and more than four seconds faster than Ohio State's Jason Adler in the 500 free.

Other strong finishes for the RedHawks were posted in the 100 freestyle where sophomore Justin Marcy (Daytona Beach, Fla./Fairfield-Ohio) and freshman Ryan McHugh (Sylvania, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) finished second and third, respectively. McHugh, competing in his first meet as a RedHawk, also captured second in the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:45.52.

Sophomore Griffin Marshall (Dallas, Texas/Jesuit College Prep) picked up the win in the 200-yard breast in a time of 2:07.83, while the 400-yard freestyle team of Marcy, McHugh, Kestutis Aukstuolis (Hudson, Ohio/Sycamore) and Brian O'Rourke (Beverly Hills, Mich./Groves) captured the event in 3:11.37. Ohio State swam both of the events as exhibitions.

Miami returns to the pool Saturday when it hosts the University at Buffalo at 3:30 p.m. in Nixon Aquatic Center.
