CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Miami men’s swimming and diving team (1-1; 1-1 Mid-American Conference) lost to Southern Illinois (2-0; 2-0 MAC) 152-91 Saturday afternoon to complete a weekend road trip.

Sophomore James Beres won the one- and three- meter diving events, his second and third wins of the season. He took the one-meter in convincing fashion, out-diving his closest competitor, fellow Miami sophomore Cameron Horner, by over 50 points. The three-meter was much closer, with Beres beating the Salukis’ top diver by just 1.66 points.

Senior David Brown was Miami’s other event-winner, taking first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.17. Miami freshman Brent Curtis (49.06) finished second.

Next up for head coach Pete Lindsay’s RedHawks is their home opener against Xavier on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 1 p.m. at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center in Oxford.
