OXFORD, Ohio - Senior Peter Donohue (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) completed a sweep of both diving events with Saturday's three-meter diving win as the RedHawks finished second at the Mid-American Conference Men's Swimming and Diving Championship at Miami University's Nixon Aquatic Center.
Eastern Michigan won the team title with 1,008 points to Miami's 771, Ball State's 568, Ohio's 465 and Buffalo's 263. It is EMU's sixth straight team title and Miami's fifth runner-up finish in the last six years.
Donohue was honored with the MAC Diver of the Year Award for his performance, and Miami swept both coaching awards with Pete Lindsay winning the Swimming Coach of the Year plaudit and Todd Spohn earning Diving Coach of the Year honors.
Junior David Hine (Crescent Springs, Ky./Covington Catholic) finished eighth in the evening's first event, the 1650 Free, in 16:26.64 as EMU placed the top five swimmers. The Eagle lead grew to 728-522 over Miami. Both schools placed three in the "A" final of the next event, the 200 Back, but Eastern Michigan's swimmers filled the top three slots while Miami's trio plugged the next three places. Senior Jason Krasula (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) let the Miami contingent with a fourth-place finish in 1:50.88. EMU's lead grew by two to 208 points at 781-573.
Miami placed two in the 100 Free lead final with sophomore Justin Marcy (Daytona Beach, Fla./Fairfield-Ohio) earning a bronze medal in 45.36. Eastern Michigan placed three in that event's "A" final, growing its advantage to 835-607.

The RedHawks took two of the top four spots in the 200 Fly, the evening's final individual swimming event. Junior Scott Robson (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) earned a silver medal in 1:50.11 while sophomore Michael Donohoe (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) placed fourth. Eastern Michigan took three of the top five spots to increase its lead to 936-684 over Miami.
Donohue's win led a trio of RedHawks in the three-meter final, with junior Zach Niehaus (Taylor Mill, Ky./Scott) earning the silver with 481.57 points to Donohue's 482.64.
The evening ended with the 400 Free Relay, where Miami placed fourth with the efforts of Marcy, sophomore Jamie Morris (Louisville, Ky./duPont Manual), junior Brian O'Rourke (Beverly Hills, Mich./Groves) and freshman Ryan McHugh (Sylvania, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) in 3:05.72.
Miami placed 10 swimmers on the 32-man All-MAC First and Second Teams. Donohue and Robson made the First Team, while Marcy, Marshall, Donohoe, Krasula, O'Neill, O'Rourke, sophomore Andy Amyot (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and junior Pat Carroll (Toledo, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) made the Second Team.
