INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Miami University's men's swimming & diving team sits in sixth place at the Midwest Conference Classic after the first day of the seven-team event. Four swimmers are representing the RedHawks in a final tune-up for the MAC Championships, March 4-6, in Ypsilanti, Mich.

Freshmen Andrew Amyot (Fairport, NY/Fairport) and Kyle Melling (Solon, Ohio/Solon) paced Miami Friday night in Indianapolis. Amyot took eighth in the 50 freestyle, touching the wall in 21.64, while Melling finished ninth in the 500 free with a time of 4:58.22. The Red and White rookies were joined at the meet by freshman Jamie Morris (Louisville, Ky./duPont Manual) and junior Dustin Snow (Dublin, Ohio/St. Charles).

The quartet also posted a pair of sixth-place finishes in 200 free and 400 medley relays. In the 200 free, Miami finished in 1:28.00, while posting a time of 3:41.96 in the 400 medley relay.

Action at the MCC gets underway on day two at 11 a.m. with preliminaries. The day's finals are scheduled for 6 p.m.
