OXFORD, Ohio - The benefits of having a well-rounded team over a handful of superstars paid off once again for the RedHawk men's swimming and diving team as Miami defeated both the University of Cincinnati and Kenyon College on Friday afternoon at the Nixon Aquatic Center. Miami secured a three-point win over UC, 120-117, and a nine-point victory, 123-114, over Kenyon.

The RedHawks (6-2) came out on top without winning any of the 11 swimming events, instead earning runner-up finishes in four competitions and third-place finishes in four more. The two diving events were all-Miami affairs, with senior Peter Donohue (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) claiming both. Other than Donohue's two wins, Miami's top individual performer was junior Scott Robson (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South), who recorded two of Miami's four second-place finishes. Robson's 1000 Free time was 9:48.10, 21 seconds behind Elliot Rushton of Kenyon. Robson replicated the placing five events later in the 200 Fly, finishing in 1:54.60, just over a second behind UC's Carlo Piccio.

Donohue's sweep of the diving events was the first time this season that the reigning one-meter MAC titlist has won both boards in the same meet as well as his first three-meter win of the year. On the one-meter board, his 276.00 points outpaced junior teammate Nick Kleinert (Rocky River, Ohio/St. Ignatius), who scored 268.35. Up higher, Donohue scored 191.35 points from the three-meter board, ahead of junior teammate Zach Niehaus (Taylor Mill, Ky./Scott).

The win over Kenyon avenges a loss at the Miami Invitational Dec. 3-5 in which the Lords knocked off the second-place RedHawks and five other teams, while the triumph over UC gives Miami a winning record against Southwest Ohio schools. In November, Miami defeated Xavier but lost to Wright State, making the RedHawks 2-1 against the other three Division I programs in the region.

Friday's meet was the first of three consecutive home meets for Miami, with Cleveland State coming to Oxford on Saturday, Jan. 22, and Ohio visiting on Friday, Jan. 28 for the return to MAC competition.
