Todd Foley enters his fifth season as assistant coach of Miami's men's swimming team. In 2001, Foley became the first full-time assistant coach hired by Pete Lindsay during his tenure and completes a staff on which all three coaches are Miami graduates.
In Foley's first season as assistant coach at Miami, he helped lead the RedHawk swimmers to a 12-2 overall record and a 7-1 league finish. The Red and White earned a second-place finish in the MAC and had an NCAA qualifier in both the 200 butterfly and 400 IM that year.
Foley came to Oxford after working as lead age group coach for KING Aquatic Club in Federal Way, Wash., running a satellite pool. While in Washington, he also served as a developmental instructor for a select camp run by USA Swimming in Seattle. Foley began his coaching career in his hometown of Brookfield, Wis. There, he served as an assistant coach for his old club team, the Elmbrook Swim Club. Additionally, Foley worked at the University of Texas swim camp the past two summers. This season, he will coach the backstrokers, distance competitors and long IM swimmers.
Foley, a 1997 Miami graduate, was a four-year letterwinner. A freestyle and butterfly swimmer, he was a member of the 1996-97 team that won the Mid-American Conference title.
