OXFORD, Ohio -- A win and a tie at Western Michigan over the weekend allowed Miami to hold onto the consensus No. 1 ranking for the seventh straight week Monday, as the three major polls were released today. The RedHawks sit atop USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Top 15 for the eighth straight week, while headlining the USCHO.com Top 20 and Inside College Hockey Ratings for the seventh time in a row.
Miami held onto 26 first-place votes in the USA Today poll, down just five from Nov. 16. The RedHawks had the same drop in the USCHO.com rankings, holding the top spot on 37 of the 50 ballots.
Denver moved up one spot to No. 2 after a weekend sweep of North Dakota, who fell from No. 2 to No. 4. UMass-Lowell is third in both polls, while Colorado College is fifth.
Both of Miami's opponents this week are ranked in the top six. In addition to North Dakota, who the RedHawks face Satursday at the Subway Holiday Classic, Bemidji State, Friday's opponent is rated sixth.
