OXFORD, Ohio -- Despite its first loss of the season Saturday night, Miami retained its No. 1 ranking in all three major hockey polls on Monday. The RedHawks are listed atop the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, the USCHO.com/CBS College Sports Poll and the Inside College Hockey Power Rating.
The RedHawks defeated Michigan State 2-1 on Friday night, but fell to the Spartans on Saturday, 3-2 in overtime.
Miami (4-1-1) held a significant lead in last week's polls and saw that lead diminish this week. Still the RedHawks gained a majority of first-place votes -- 22 of 34 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll and 26 of 48 in the USCHO.com/CBS College Sports poll. Miami's leads are 44 and 26 points, respectively, in the two polls.
The RedHawks also remained No. 1 in the INCH Power Rating for the third straight week.
