OXFORD, Ohio -- Fresh off a season-opening sweep of No. 13/15 St. Cloud State over the weekend, the Miami Redhawks became the consensus No. 1 team in the nation Tuesday with the announcement of the USCHO.com/CBS College Sports Division I Poll. Yesterday, both the USA Today/USA Hockey poll and the INCH Power Ratings listed Miami in the top spot.

In the USCHO.com/CBS College Sports rankings, delayed a day because of the Columbus Day holiday, the RedHawks gained 28 of 45 first-place votes and totalled 871 points. They leapfrogged Denver and Michigan, who split over the weekend, and idle Boston University to hold a slim 12-point lead over the Terriers.

On Monday, Miami increased its lead in the USA Today/USA Hockey poll. The preseason choice by just two points, The RedHawks were listed first of 24 of 33 ballots for a total of 496 points. Boston University is second, while Denver, North Dakota and Michigan round out the top five
