GRAND RAPIDS, Mich - Miami ice hockey was picked to finish third in the CCHA preseason coaches' poll and fourth in the media poll. The polls were released Tuesday at CCHA media in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Miami picked to win the conference a season ago returns 15 lettermen and two of their Top 3 point scorers. Miami won a school record 33 games a season ago and will be looking for its first conference title since 2005-06. Justin Mercier and Carter Camper both return after posting 40-plus points seasons in 2007-08 and both earned spots on the preseason All-CCHA team. Mercier was named to the pre-season first team all-conference team and Camper was named to the season team.

Miami received one first place vote in the coaches' poll and earned two in the media poll. Miami will open the doors to Steve Cady Arena for the first time this season, Saturday in an exhibition against Ryerson, the puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
