Oxford, Ohio - Freshman forward Tommy Wingels was selected by the San Jose Sharks during day two of the 2008 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

The 6 foot, 193-pound native of Wilmette, Ill., was San Jose's sixth-round pick, taken with the 177th overall pick in the draft. Skating in all 42 games for the RedHawks in his rookie campaign, Wingels had a productive season for Miami, scoring 29 points on 15 goals and 14 assists.

With a goal in the opening game of the 2008 NCAA Regional Tournament in Worcester, Mass., Wingels helped the RedHawks to an overtime victory over Air Force, putting Miami into the Regional Finals for the second-consecutive year.
