OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University ice hockey team will open its 2008-09 season on the road against in-state rival and Central Collegiate Hockey Association foe, Ohio State, on October 4, 2008, the first of 36 regular season contests scheduled for the season.
The CCHA has clustered the RedHawks with Michigan, Michigan State and rivalry partner, Ohio State, together for the season, meaning Miami will face each opponent four times, twice at home and twice on the road. The four teams were clustered together for the 2003-04 season, with each team finishing in the top-four in the conference (First - Michigan, Second - Miami, Third - Michigan State, Fourth - Ohio State).
In non-conference action, the Red and White will face off against the Catamounts of Vermont (Oct. 17-18) and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Engineers (Dec. 13-14), as well as the Clarkson Golden Knights and the Army Black Knights in the Ohio Hockey Classic (Jan. 2-3).
"We're excited with our schedule," said head coach Enrico Blasi. "We feel it's a very competitive schedule and were looking forward to the opportunity."
