HOUSTON, Texas - Houston Aeros General Manager Tom Lynn today announced the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed former Miami University forward Brian Kaufman to an AHL contract for the 2009-2010 season.

Kaufman, 25, played the past four seasons with Miami University and served as team captain for the 2009 NCAA national runners-up. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound native of Shoreview, Minnesota finished with 84 points (30-54=84) in 125 games played in his college career. He had his best season as a junior when he skated in 42 games and had career-highs in goals with 12 and assists with 25.

"Brian is a smart player with a big body who can play a variety of roles," said Lynn.

Prior to joining the RedHawks, Kaufman played two seasons for the Billings Bulls of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) where he led the team in scoring during the 2004-05 season with 66 points (32-34=66). Brian also played high school football and still holds the Minnesota State record for passing yards in a high school football game while playing for Hill Murray High School.
