FLORENCE, S.C. - The East Coast Hockey League announced earlier this week that Mike Glumac, a right wing for the Pee Dee Pride, has been named to the league's All-Rookie Team. Glumac, a four-year letterwinner for the Miami hockey team from 1999-02, was one of three forwards on the all-rookie team, in addition to two defensemen and one goalie.
In his first season in the ECHL, Glumac has enjoyed a splendid freshman campaign, scoring 36 goals and 32 assists for 68 points in only 67 games. His 36 goals lead all ECHL rookies, while his 68 points are third among first-year players. Glumac also is maintaining a +37 rating, which is second among all league players.
Earlier in the year, Glumac was honored as the CCM Rookie of the Month in October and added the C&T Hockey Products Plus Performer of the Month award to his resume in November. He topped of his first season by participating in the Compuware/ECHL All-Star Game in Estero, Fla.
Glumac also is nearing, or already has set, several Pee Dee Pride scoring records. His 36 goals broke the previous Pee Dee rookie record of 33, set by Wes Goldie in 2000-01. With two games remaining in the regualar season, he is three goals short of the Pride record for goals in a single season of 39, set by Dany Bousquet in 2000-01.
In four years at Miami, Glumac scored 34 goals and added 23 assists for 57 career points. He led the team as a senior with 15 goals, seven of which were on the power play, and is now the first Pee Dee player to be named to the three-year old All-Rookie Team.
The Pee Dee Pride play their final two games of the regular season this weekend at South Carolina on Saturday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m., and at Augusta on Sunday, March 30 at 4:05 p.m.
