FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- Miami's dominance of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association this season -- a 21-2-5 record enroute to the regular-season championship -- was highlighted Wednesday with five RedHawks earning postseason honors, the league office announced.
Palmer, a senior from Fridley, Minn., leads the RedHawks in goals (tied with 16) and points (40) this season. His +25 rating is also tops on the team, while he has registered five game-winning goals. Palmer has tallied multiple points on 11 occasions, equalling his career high of three-points six times. In conference play, he finished third overall with 33 points (14g, 19a).
The national leader in goals-against average, save percentage and winning percentage, Reichard has his most impressive numbers against league opponents. The native of Celina, Ohio, stopped 95.0 percent of the shots he faced, surrendering just 1.23 goals-against (21 total in 17 games). The statistics translated into a 15-0-2 record against CCHA foes. Overall, his numbers are 1.48 goals against, a save percentage of .938 and a 17-2-3 record.
Miele, a junior from Grosse Point Woods, Mich., ranks second on the team in points with 38 on 13 goals and a team-high 25 assists. In league play, he registered 12 goals and 20 assists to rank fourth overall. Miele had four game-winners, while tallying multiple points on 10 occasions. His four points against Lake Superior State and Bowling Green were career bests.
Wingels, the team captain, hails from Wilmette, Ill. He is tied for the team lead in goals with 16, while standing third with 36 points. Five of his goals this season have been game-winners, tying him for fifth in the country in the category. During conference play, Wingels tallied 28 points on 15 goals and 13 assists to rank tied for eighth.
Camper, a junior from Rocky River, Ohio is the RedHawks' fourth-leading scorer with 35 points (13g, 22a). He tallied 25 points in CCHA action.
The five selections equal the most in Miami's history as the 1992-93 team also had five player honored. That year featured a similar breakdown as Brian Savage and Joe Cook were first-team picks, Bobby Marshall and Richard Shulmistra made the second and current assistant coach Chris Bergeron was honorable mention.
Voting was conducted by the league head coaches using a 5-3-1 points system.
