OXFORD, Ohio -- A pair of wins this weekend over Lake Superior State, 2-0 and 10-4 kept Miami as the No. 1 team in the nation this week. The RedHawks have now held the top spot for 15 of the 17 weeks this season.
Miami received first-place votes on 46 of the 50 ballots cast in the USCHO.com poll. On the remaining four ballots, the RedHawks were second behind either Denver or Wisconsin, who were second and third, respectively, in the overall tally. St. Cloud State was fourth, followed by Bemidji State.
In the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine version, Miami received all but one first-place vote, with the rest of the top five -- Denver, Wisconsin, St. Cloud State and Bemidji State -- mirroring USCHO.
The RedHawks were also No. 1 this week in the INCH Power Ratings.
Miami hits the road for a pair of games at Bowling Green this weekend, needing only a win or shootout win -- among several scenarios -- to clinch its third regular-season CCHA championship.
