Miami University men's golfers Ben Bastel and Craig Voorhees both have qualified for the 2008 USGA Public Links Championships to be held July 14-19 at the Murphy Creek Golf Course in Aurora, Colo.

Bastel, a rising senior in the program, shot a 36-hole total of 143 to finish third in sectional qualifying at Weatherwax Golf Course in Middletown, Ohio, advancing to the 2008 USGA Public Links Championship. Voorhees, a rising junior in the RedHawk program, shot a 36-hole total of 139 to finish second in sectional qualifying at Windmill Lakes Golf Club in Ravena, Ohio, to advance to the championships.

This is the second consecutive year Voorhees has qualified for the USGA Public Links Championship. In 2007, he finished 25th in stroke play qualifying and advanced to the second round of match play.

Additionally, rising seniors Anthony Cordes and Aaron Crist competed in sectional qualifying for the USGA Public Links Championship at Weatherwax Golf Course. Both shot 144 over 36 holes with Cordes being the first alternate and Crist being the second alternate our of the Weatherwax qualifier.
