Miami University's men's golf team tries to continue the momentum it has built with two top-three finishes the last to weeks when the RedHawks compete in the Mid-American Conference Championships May 2-4.
The MAC Championships are a three-day, 72-hole tournament, which will be hosted by Eastern Michigan University and held at Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio. The first two rounds are slated for Friday, followed by 18 holes on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday. Miami's lineup consists of juniors Ben Wood, Ben Bastel and Mark Robinson and freshman Nathan Sutherland and Michael Drobnick.
The RedHawks are coming off of a third-place finish among a 12-team field at the FirstEnergy Intercollegiate last week and posted a second-place finish at the Rutherford Intercollegiate the previous week. Miami has finished among the top three four times this season and has 10 top-10 finishes.
Wood paced the RedHawks at the FirstEnergy Intercollegiate last week, placing fifth at one-over par 141. He has been the RedHawks' top finisher four times this season. Wood has finished among the top 25 in eight of the RedHawks' 12 tournaments this season and has finished among the top five three times.
Sutherland has led the Red and White in a team-most six tournaments this season and has placed among the top 25 in nine events, including a pair of second-place finishes. Sutherland finished second at the Rutherford Intercollegiate April 19-20, shooting 68-73-78=219.
