CLEVELAND--Miami University junior golfer Ben Wood (St. Louis, Mo./Kirkwood) was named Mid-American Conference Co-Golfer of the Week for his performance at the Hoosier Invitational March 29-30.
Wood shared the honor with Toledo's Justin Hull, who also tied for third at the event.
Wood spearheaded Miami to a second-place team finish among the 18-team field at the Hoosier Invitational, finishing at two-over par 144 to tie for third place individually. It was his second-best finish of the season and the second time he has placed among the top five individual finishers in 2006-07.
He fired a career-best 67 in the first round, which was the second best score of any golfer in the two-round tournament as the third round was cancelled due to poor weather conditions. His 67 in the first round also ties for the best round by a RedHawk this season. As a team, Miami finished just two strokes behind tournament winner Eastern Kentucky University.
This is the second MAC weekly award for a Miami golfer this season as freshman Michael Drobnick earned the honor earlier this year. It is the second MAC Golfer of the Week honor for Wood.
