Results after two rounds
FT. MYERS, Fla. – The men’s golf team stands in fifth place at 11-under par after two rounds of the Renaissance Invitational in Ft. Myers, Fla. Sunday afternoon. Campbell leads the tournament at 26-under par.
The tournament, which is the final one for Miami during the fall season, is hosted by Xavier and has several local teams in it. The RedHawks are currently ahead of both MAC teams in the event, as Ball State is in sixth place at six under par, while Bowling Green is in 12th place at 14-over par.
“We played alright today and hung in their nicely,” said head coach Casey Lubahn. “We didn’t anything great or horrible today. All of our guys played solidly and we got one great round and only one mediocre round out of it.”
The top four finishers for Miami are bunched up on the leaderboard at the tournament. Craig Voorhees had the top score for the RedHawks on Sunday after shooting two rounds of 70. He is currently tied for tenth at four under par. Michael Drobnick was right behind him at three under par, while Nathan Sutherland is at two under par. Freshman Blake English had the best round of the day with a 69, and is tied for 22nd overall at one under par. Charlie Hendrickson is tied for 50th at seven over par.
“Our three leaders (Voorhees, Sutherland and Drobnick) have been steady for us all year,” said Lubahn. “We need to be hungry tomorrow and seize our opportunities with those three leading the charge.”
The Renaissance Invitational concludes Monday with one final 18-hole round.
