Results through Two Rounds
HEBRON, Ky. – Shaking off a slow start in round one, the Miami men’s golf team shot a team-best 287 in the second round of the University of Cincinnati Invitational to move into third place at 16-over par. The RedHawks trail Mid-American Conference rival Ball State by three shots, with Bowling Green one stroke in front of Miami.
In the individual tournament, junior Nathan Sutherland shot rounds of 74 and 69 to share the lead with Bowling Green’s Drew Preston at one under par.
“I’m very pleased with this afternoon’s round,” said head coach Casey Lubahn. “We rebounded nicely from the morning and everybody tried very hard to find success. But we didn’t try so hard that we were pressing. On the individual front, Nathan is very close to doing some great things.”
Michael Drobnick is currently tied for 12th at four over par. Blake English shot an 80 in round one, but recovered to shoot a two under par 70 in round two, and is tied for 25th at six over par.
“It was nice to see Blake come back and shoot a good round in the afternoon,” said Lubahn.
Other scores for Miami included Ben Peacock, who is tied for 39th at eight over par, and Craig Voorhees, who is tied for 65th at 13-over par.
“Tomorrow’s goal is to have fun,” said Lubahn. “Win or lose we will compete hard and give it our all.”
The final round of the University of Cincinnati Invitational begins Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. at the Traditions Golf Course in Hebron, Ky.
