STATE COLLEGE, Pa.--After two rounds at the Rutherford Intercollegiate, Miami University's golf team stands in second place among the 12-team field. The RedHawks trail only host Penn State, who sits at four-over par 572 on its home course. Miami fired rounds of 294 and 289 on Saturday and is 15-over par 583 as a team. Four RedHawks stand among the top 20 heading into Sunday's final round.
Freshman Nathan Sutherland is tied for second place with Richmond's Robert Lindstrom at one-under par 141. The two trail Penn State's Robert Rohanna by one stroke. Sutherland fired a 68 in the first round, which led the field after the first 18 holes. He carded a 73 in the second round, while Rohanna shot rounds of 72 and 68 to overtake Sutherland by one stroke.
After shooting a 79 in the first round, junior Ben Wood bounced back with a 69 in the second round to catapult himself into a tie for 15th place at six-over par 148. Junior Ben Bastel is tied for 17th place at seven-over par 149, while junior Aaron Crist is tied for 20th place at eight-over par 150. Freshman Michael Drobnick rounds out the Miami five tied for 44th place at 13-over par 155.
