LEXINGTON, Ky.--Following the first round at the UK Bluegrass Invitational, Miami University's golf team sits in fifth place among the 18-team field and is just five strokes behind tournament leader Western Carolina, while two RedHawks are among the top 15 individually.
Freshman Nathan Sutherland paces the Red and White after carding a 75 in the first round to site in a tie for ninth place at three-over par. Junior Ben Wood follows, tying for 13th place after shooting a 76 in the first round. Junior Ben Bastel is tied for 33rd place at seven-over par 79. Freshmen Michael Drobnick and Matt Stasiak are tied for 46th place and 66th place, respectively.
The second round of the tournament also was scheduled to be played on Sunday, however, play was suspended near the end of the second round. Miami concludes its stint at the UK Bluegrass Invitational on Monday with the remainder of the second round and the final round.
