HUNTINGTON, W. Va.--Miami University's men's golf team tied for ninth among the 17-team field at the Marshall Invitational. Due to poor weather conditions, the first day of the Marshall Invitational was postponed and the tournament was shortened to 36 holes, which were all played on Saturday.

Miami was tied for fifth after a solid first round where it shot 288 as a team. The RedHawks shot 297 in the second round to finish at 17-over par 585 and land in a tie for ninth place with Ball State.

Junior Ben Wood fired rounds of 72 and 71 to finish in a tie for 16th place at one-over par 143 to pace the RedHawks. Freshman Michael Drobnick shot a 70 in the first round, the best by a RedHawk at the event, and followed that with a 77 in the second round to tie for 38th place at five-over par 147.

Junior Ben Bastel carded a pair of 74s to finish in a tie for 46th place at six-over par 148, freshmen Nathan Sutherland and Matt Stasiak both tied for 58th place at eight over par 150.

Illinois won the event, shooting 14-under par 554 as a team to finish seven strokes ahead of its nearest competitor. Penn State's Robert Rohanna won the event, firing rounds of 70 and 66 to finish at six-under par 136, two strokes better than any other competitor.

Miami returns to action April 13-14 at the UK Bluegrass Invitational.
