PINEHURST, N.C.--Miami University's men's golf team sits in a tie for 16th place after Sunday's first round at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate. The RedHawks are tied with Hartford and sit just one stroke behind 15th-place Marshall, two behind 14th-place Marquette and four behind 13th-place Penn State.
Freshman Nathan Sutherland and junior Ben Wood pace the RedHawks in a tie for 38th place at six-over par 78. Junior Ben Bastel is one stroke behind Sutherland and Wood at seven-over par 79 to tie for 51st place, while junior Mark Robinson is tied for 71st place at nine-over par 81 and freshman Michael Drobnick is tied for 93rd place at 13-over par 93.
This is Miami's first tournament of the spring season and its first since playing in the Wolverine Invitational Nov. 5-6. The RedHawks continue their stint in the three-day, 54-hole Pinehurst Intercollegiate with Monday's second round.
