Miami, Ball State Post-Game Quotes

Miami vs. Ball State
Post-Game Press Conference
Saturday, October 7, 2000

BALL STATE HEAD COACH BILL LYNCH:

Opening Statement: "It is great to get the win. We can finally go into the next game not worrying about the streak anymore. I give our guys credit. They did a great job today of executing. I am really happy for our seniors. I am happy for the whole team, but especially for our seniors. They have been through a lot."

On Ball State Running Back Anthony Jones:"He did a great job for us. He is not used to running the ball 46 times, but I knew he'd be fine. He had that look in him today and I knew he would be able to continue."

On Breaking the 21-Game Losing Streak: "I lost track of how many games it got to be. We just tried to focus each week and we finally made the plays that it takes to win a game. I am very excited. I give Miami and their head coach Terry Hoeppner credit. I have a lot of respect for their football team."

MIAMI HEAD COACH TERRY HOEPPNER:

Opening Statement: "I give all the credit to Ball State. They came in ready to play. I wasn't kidding when I said that we should be aware of Ball State. I knew they had a good team. They made the plays and we didn't. I told the team to remember the feeling that we had after the Vanderbilt and remember the feeling we have now. Hopefully we can gain something from this loss. We are just not playing with confidence right now and it is my job to turn it around."

On Ball State running back Anthony Jones: "We were ready for him to start the game, but we didn't execute. He kept running hard and we made the adjustments. We just couldn't make the right plays at the right time."

On Miami Quarterback Mike Bath: "He is banged up right now. He is bruised all over, but his back is what is hurting the most. You can't do too much with a bad back."
