KENT, Ohio (AP) -- Travis Prentice rushed for 149 yards and a touchdown, moving him within five TDs of two NCAA records held by Ricky Williams, as Miami University beat Kent 17-10 Saturday.

Prentice, who had 43 carries, scored his 67th career rushing TD on a 1-yard run in the first quarter, leaving him five away from the record of 72 set by last year's Heisman Trophy winner at Texas.

Prentice has 432 career points, second only to Williams' 452.

His 1-yard run gave Miami (5-2, 4-1 Mid-American Conference) a 7-0 lead with 4:30 left in the first.

Miami increased its lead to 10-3 on Andy Brumbergs' 42-yard field goal in the third, then made it 17-3 on Trevor Gaylor's 34-yard TD catch from Mike Bath with 4:50 remaining.

Jose Davis hit Kelly Jurron from 9 yards out as Kent (1-6, 1-3) closed to 17-10 with 1:27 left, but Miami recovered the onside kick and ran out the clock.
