Miami vs. Kent State
Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000

  • With the victory, Miami improves to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the MAC East (2-0 MAC overall). Kent State falls to 0-4 and 0-1 MAC East (0-1 MAC overall). Miami wins its fifth straight home-opening contest and ups it home-opening record to 83-22-4 all-time.

  • The RedHawks have defeated the Golden Flashes 12 consecutive years, dating to 1989. Overall, Miami leads the series with Kent State 39-9.

  • Miami has won 14 of its last 15 home games vs. Mid-American Conference foes. The only loss was to Marshall on Oct. 3, 1999.

  • Miami's 45 points were a season high and the most since defeating Bowling Green 45-31 on Oct. 9, 1999.

  • Late in the first quarter, Miami quarterback Mike Bath surpassed the 5,000-yard mark for career passing yardage. He climbed above the 5,000-yard mark on Sly Johnson's 41-yard reception. Bath now has 5,196 career yards. He is 674 yards shy of equaling the school's career mark, held by Sam Ricketts. Bath also moved into third place on Miami's career completions list - he now has 334.

  • With his 10-yard TD pass early in the fourth quarter, Mike Bath tied Miami's career passing TD record. He now has 44 for his career. He also moved into a ninth-place tie on the MAC passing TD list with Miami's Sam Ricketts (1994-97) and Toledo's Chris Wallace (1995-98).

  • Miami freshman Cal Murray tied the school record for rushing TD's in a game (4) and rushing TD's in a half (4) with his four first-half scores. He scored on runs of 5, 4, 48 and 5 yards. The 48-yard run was the longest rush by a Miami player this year. Murray also became the first Miami freshman to rush for 4 TD's in a game. He finished with 133 yards on 14 carries. Miami's freshman single-game rushing record is 250 yards, set by Terry Carter (vs. Ohio) in 1990.

  • Miami's top three receivers (AirHawk Flight 345), combined for 17 receptions for 206 yards and two touchdowns. Sly Johnson totaled 85 yards on 5 receptions to lead the way.
