OXFORD, Ohio - Miami RedHawk fans can get a sneak preview of their 2008 football squad Friday night at Yager Stadium, with the kickoff slated for 8 p.m. Due to a variety of injuries, Miami's annual spring game will pit its offensive unit against the RedHawk defensive players. There is no admission charge for fans.

Miami University President David Hodge will be the Honorary Head Coach for the defense, while Board of Trustees member Don Crain will serve in a similar role with the offensive squad.

"Because our ranks are fairly thin due to a variety of injuries, we think that this offense vs. defense format will work best," said head coach Shane Montgomery. We will have a special scoring system that should make it a very interesting game for the fans to watch."

The offense will be awarded one point for every first down and extra point it makes, two points for each play over 25 yards, three points for a field goal, and six points for a touchdown. The defense will get one point for a third-down stop, two points for a sack or a fourth-down stop, three points when it forces a three-and-out, and six points if it recovers a turnover.

The defense will wear white jerseys, the offense will wear red jerseys ,and the quarterbacks will wear black jerseys. The teams will play four 12-minute quarters, with a running clock in the second half.

Quarterbacks Daniel Raudabaugh and Clay Belton will lead the offensive unit, while Robbie Wilson and Joe Coniglio will pace the defense.

A number of players will be sidelined, including Dustin Woods, Jamal Rogers, Clayton Mullins and Joey Hudson.

Fans will be allowed to park in the spaces around the Yager Stadium complex on a first-come, first-served basis. Entry will only be allowed via Bonham Road and exit is via 732. The Weeb Ewbank Hill will be closed to vehicular traffic. Once the spaces at Yager are filled, patrons will need to park in West Millett. Golf cart shuttles will be provided to those needing assistance to the stadium. Handicapped spaces are designated for those with state issued handicapped placards. Designated parking spaces are reserved for those with proper credentials. Parking will not be allowed in the grass areas around the stadium.
