POST-GAME NOTES - October 25, 2008
Kent State (2-6, 1-3 MAC) at Miami (2-6, 1-3 MAC)

Kent State improved its record to 2-6 with a 54-21 victory over Miami. It was Kent State's 12th victory in the 56-game series. The loss dropped Miami's record in the Mid-American Conference East Division to 1-3. The RedHawks finish up the regular season at Buffalo (Tue., Nov. 4), home against Ball State (Tue., Nov. 11), at Toledo (Fri., Nov. 21), then home against Ohio (Fri., Nov. 28).

Joining Miami's season-long captains--JOEY HUDSON, Robbie Wilson and DAVE DiFRANCO--was game captain Chris Shula, a senior linebacker from Cooper City, Florida.

The 54 points scored by Kent State is the most the Golden Flashes have ever scored in their series against Miami. It's the most points yielded in any game by the RedHawks since Miami (Fla.) scored 54 points in 1987 (54-3). In 1942, Dartmouth beat Miami 58-7. Miami trailed at halftime by a score of 31-7. It is the sixth time this season that the RedHawks have been behind going into the intermission.

Clay Belton got the second start of his career today vs. Kent State and scored his first and second collegiate touchdowns on a one-yard run at 6:13 of the first quarter and a one-yard run at 12:52 of the fourth quarter. Belton completed 18 of his 31 passes (two interceptions) for a career-high 171 yards, including a touchdown pass to Chris Givens. Givens scored a TD in his second consecutive game.

Miami's Robbie Wilson returned three kicks for 50 yards vs. Kent State. It marked the first time in his career that Wilson has been used in that role. Dustin Woods returned five kicks for 130 yards against the Flashes, the first time he's been used in that capacity since 2006.

JAKE RICHARDSON, the nation's fourth-ranked punter heading into game (46.8 ypp avg.), punted once (44 yards), a kick that was downed at the Kent State two-yard line. His 2008 punting average remains at 46.8. Season: 40-1870 yards (46.8) Career: 212-9,082 yards (42.8)

Miami committed a total of six turnovers, two by interceptions and four by fumbles. Miami's single-game record for most turnovers lost is eight vs. Toledo in 1959.
