On the game

"We moved the ball well and got close to the quarterback on several occasions, and we made some great plays. But we also had some costly penalties, which is something we definitely have to work on."

On the game

"I felt really good with our offense today, and I thought we did a good job moving the ball all day against a good team that was trying hard to get a win. Charleston Southern is a solid football team with a good coach in (Jay) Mills, and they did a good job today."

On the win

"It feels good to get a win knowing that we didn't play as well as I know we can play. They (Charleston Southern) came in with a great game plan. We know we are going to have to play a lot better next week to get a win against Cincinnati."

On the wide receivers and running backs

"We have some great play makers on this team and they really showed that today. One thing we knew we had coming into the season was guys who could run all over the field, and they played great today."

"A lot teams have been putting some good coverage on me, and I knew when I got the ball I had be make something happen because I wasn't going to get a lot of chances."

"We had been doing screen drill all week and I kept joking about how I was going to take one to the house this week. It just came right at me, and I tipped it enough times so I could catch it and just took off running. Although, everyone has been hassling me that I didn't score."

"I knew I had made some mistakes in the game, but I was just trying to stay focused and I got a chance to make a play. As soon as I caught it, I was thinking touchdown. I saw nothing in front of me but side line, but I got caught there at the end."

On the onside kick

"Things happen once you are into a game, and you just have to remain confident and stay with it. We saw a lot of them on film, and we knew they were going to try some stuff and we just had to stick to our assignments."

On Miami

"We had a good plan and we put together a great effort, and we really felt we had a chance to come away with a win. Miami is a fantastic football team and they did a great job to get the win. There is a reason they were one of the preseason favorites to win the MAC."

On the game

"We turned the ball over a few times, and if you want to beat an outstanding team like Miami you can't afford to make those mistakes."

On the onside kick to open the game

"That was a decision we made today at about 8 a.m. It was mostly based on the quarterback situation for Miami. We have a lot of respect for (Daniel) Raudabaugh, and when we found out he was starting we decided to do it (onside kick)."
