- Miami was held scoreless in the first half, marking the first time the Red and White was blanked in a half since an Aug. 30, 2003 loss at Iowa in which the RedHawks were unable to score in the second half.
- The RedHawk defense held Michigan to 139 yards of total offense and just eight first downs in the first half. The longest first-half drive allowed by the Red and White covered only 43 yards and ended in an interception.
- Michigan's first three scoring drives were set up by two interceptions and a fumble, the longest of the Wolverines' first three scoring drives covered just 17 yards.
- Jared Parseghian's 36-yard field goal late in the third quarter prevented Miami from being shut out for what would have been the first time since 1993--a string of 119 games.
- The 43 points scored by Michigan were the most scored against Miami since it gave up 48 points to Central Florida in the 2002 season finale.
- Miami's five interceptions were the most since it threw six versus Central Michigan in 1990.
Individual Notes
- After having an earlier punt return for a touchdown negated by a penalty--the third time that's happened in two games this season--Miami sophomore punt returner Ryne Robinson returned a fourth-quarter punt 70 yards to the Michigan two-yard line, setting up the RedHawks' first touchdown of the day. He returned his next punt 46 yards and finished the day with 139 punt return yards, giving him 255 for the season (23.2 ypr).
- Junior wide receiver Martin Nance totaled five receptions for 63 yards to lead the RedHawks and moved past Tremayne Banks (1993-96) for third all-time on Miami's career receiving yardage list (1,825).
- A leaping interception by Matt Pusateri halted a second-quarter Michigan drive and was his third pick in the past four games, including key interceptions in the MAC Championship and GMAC Bowl games.
- Senior Michael Larkin hauled in four passes for 45 yards, extending his string of consecutive games with a reception to 39--tying him with Denver Bronco Darius Watts for the fourth-longest string in MAC history.
- Junior tailback Mike Smith scored on a two-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, marking the 14th time in the past 15 games that he's tallied a rushing touchdown and moving him into a ninth-place tie with George Swarn (1983-86) on Miami's career rushing touchdown list with his 22nd career TD rush.
- The four interceptions by Betts were the most by a Miami signal caller since Ben Roethlisberger (2001-03) also threw four interceptions in last season's season-opening loss at Iowa.
