OXFORD, Ohio - Strong efforts by quarterbacks Daniel Raudabaugh and Zac Dysert and consistent play by the defensive contingent highlighted the annual Red and White spring football game Saturday afternoon at Miami University's Yager Stadium.

The White team, featuring the No. 1 offensive and the No. 2 defensive units, nipped the Red team (No. 1 defense and No. 2 offense) by a score of 13-7 in the public debut of Coach Michael Haywood's RedHawks.

Raudabaugh, a senior, completed 11 of 14 passes, including a 20-yard touchdown pass to Chris Givens. Raudabaugh wound up the day with 145 passing yards. Dysert, a freshman, split time between the Red and White squads, completing 11 of 15 passes for 129 yards.

Givens, who will be a junior this coming fall, hauled in nine passes for 110 yards, including receptions of 31 and 20 yards.

The game's top rusher was freshman Danny Green who carried the football 20 times for 58 net yards. One of his runs was a five-yard touchdown.

WILL DIAZ sparkled on the defensive side of the ball for the White team, totaling six tackles and three tackles for loss. Two of his TFLs were quarterback sacks. He also broke up two passes. Ben Bennett had eight stops and broke up one pass to lead the Red squad. The game's other defensive stalwarts were Jeff Thompson and Jerrell Wedge with six tackles apiece, Luke Kelly, DeAndre Gilmore, Brandon Stephens, Martin Channels and Caleb Bostic with five stops each. Channels had 3.5 TFLs while Wedge had two tackles behind the line of scrimmage.

The stars among the kickers were Trevor Cook with field goals of 48 and 34 yards, and Chris DiCesare and Jim Broadway who had respective punting averages of 44.7 and 40.2 yards.

Several Miami football alums returned to Oxford for the game, including Ben Roethlisberger and numerous other members of the 2003 squad.

Today concluded spring drills for the RedHawks. They will begin fall practice in early August.

Miami opens the 2009 regular season with a September 5 game at Cincinnati's Paul Brown Stadium against Kentucky.
