SCOUTING REPORT: He'll be the backup to Mike Johns and Jordain Brown at nose tackle ... understands Miami's new defensive scheme, but needs to transfer that knowledge to the field ... gives tremendous effort and sprints to the ball on every snap ... coaches say he cares about playing football for Miami.

2011: Played in six games, making his season debut in the opener against Missouri (Sept. 3) ... recorded three total tackles on the season.

2010: Appeared in two games (vs. EMU and Cincinnati), but did not letter.

2009: Attended the Naval Academy Prep School during the fall semester.

HIGH SCHOOL: A two-time captain for Hightower High School in Missouri City, Texas, he earned three varsity letter as a two-way lineman ... the 2009 Hurricanes had a 14-1 record and played for the Texas 5-A title ... the team's MVP as a senior, he earned all-district honors in Houston ... recorded 188 pancakes his senior year ... his prep coach was Shane Hallmark.
