SCOUTING REPORT: At least two pre-season publications call Dysert the Mid-American Conference's top returning quarterback in 2010 ... RedHawk coaches say he had an outstanding spring, taking great strides in learning more about Miami's offense ... feels more comfortable in understanding how to pick up blitzes ... as a rookie, he displayed knowledge in figuring out when to stay in the pocket and when to take off and run.

2009: During the 11 games in which he took quarterback snaps (excludes season opener vs. Kentucky), he averaged 237.3 passing yards per contest, a figure that ranked him fourth among 2009 Mid-American Conference QBs. Zac attempted 401 passes as compared to Bowling Green's Tyler Sheehan (575 attempts for 311.6 yards per game), Western Michigan's Tim Hiller (514 atts. for 270.8 ypg) and Central Michigan's Dan LeFevour (456 atts. for 245.6 ypg). Dysert is the only one of the four QBs who returns in 2010 ... the MAC's best redshirt freshman threw for 2,611 yards in 2009 ... he had a career-best performance at Temple, passing for 426 yards and three touchdowns on 31-of-51 tosses. His single-game yardage was the fourth-best all-time effort in Miami history, behind Ben Roethlisberger's top-three games as a RedHawk (525 yards, 452 yards and 440 yards) ... Zac's 438 yards of total offense vs. Temple is eighth-best all-time at Miami ... in his nine starts, Dysert averaged 282 yards passing per game which would have ranked second in the MAC a year ago ... he threw for 337 yards against Kent State in his first start, then followed up that performance with a 286-yard effort against 10th-ranked Cincinnati ... in his last five games he tossed for consecutive totals of 348 yards vs. Northern Illinois, 344 yards vs. Toledo 426 vs. Temple, 259 vs. BG, and 194 vs. Buffalo, an average of 314.2 yards per game ... besides his top-four performance at Temple, he had the 19th-best (348 yards vs. NIU), 20th-best (344 yards vs. Toledo) and 23rd-best (337 yards vs. Kent State) efforts in Miami history ... in the team's only victory (31-24 vs. Toledo), Dysert had 404 yards of total offense (344 passing/60 rushing). He also was the holder for Trevor Cook's Miami-record 55-yard field goal with just :37 left in the first half. ... he completed 61.6 percent of his passes in 2009 for 2,611 yards ... 12 TDs, 16 interceptions ... team's second-leading rusher with 258 net yards ... in Dysert's very first start, he had an amazing effort vs. Kent State, passing for 337 yards (31-of-53 passes, two int., one TD) and rushing for 107 more. His 444 yards of total offense vs. KSU ranks seventh-best all-time in Miami history ... by comparison, Ben Roethlisberger's first Miami start vs. Michigan in 2001 saw him complete 18-of-35 passes (three int., two TD) for 193 yards plus 18 yards rushing ... also serves as the holder for Miami field goals and PATs.

HIGH SCHOOL: A highly-acclaimed quarterback who ranks second on Ohio prep football's all-time passing yardage list with 11,174 yards ... Ohio Coaches Association named him the winner of the 2007 Art Teynor Award as the state's all-division Player of the Year ... previous Teynor Award winners include Ben Roethlisberger and Ted Ginn, Jr. ... was named Ohio Division 6 and Northwest Conference Player of the Year ... passed for 3,714 yards and 35 TDs as a senior despite missing three-and-a-half games with a broken thumb ... during that span when he could not pass the ball, played wide receiver and linebacker for the Bulldogs ... threw 100 TD passes during his career ... also an adept runner, he compiled more than 1,000 yards on the ground with 16 TDs ... captained Ada's basketball and baseball teams ... the Bulldog basketball team was ranked No. 1 in the state in its division ... prep coach was Mike Fell.
