A 1988 graduate, Dalrymple was a four-year starter as a dominant offensive lineman for Miami from 1983-86. Dalrymple was a tri-captain on the 1986 Miami team that won the MAC championship and played in the California Bowl against San Jose State.

One of five offensive linemen tabbed for the squad, Dalrymple was named to the Cincinnati Enquirer's all-20th Century Miami football team.

Dalrymple signed as a free agent with the Seattle Seahawks in 1987. When he did not make the team's final roster, he returned to Miami as a student assistant coach on the prestigious Cradle of Coaches Association Scholarship. He then served as a graduate assistant on the 1988 coaching staff before assuming duties as the offensive line coach and strength coach in 1989. He was named strength and conditioning coordinator in December of 1989.

Dalrymple is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and is also certified as a Level 1 (Club) Coach by USA Weightlifting.
