Coach Haywood's Comments: "For a young kid, Brad Bednar came in during the spring and learned the offense really well. He has a chance to be a significant contributor this upcoming season in our offensive line."
Notes: Had major knee surgery in March of 2008, during which a benign tumor was removed and a bone graft was performed. He was in a cast for 12 weeks ... served as a volunteer coach at Mentor High School ... a "gray shirt", he enrolled at Miami in January of 2009, participating in spring practice ... first-team all-state offensive lineman at Mentor, he lettered three times and captained his squad as a senior ... Mentor was the Division I state runnerup in 2006 and `07, compiling an overall record of 24-5 ... prep football coach was Steve Trivisonno ... also lettered in baseball ... an exceptional student, he had a 4.0 cumulative grade point average ... parents are Lawrence and Dolores Bednar ... boasts that he's seen every Simpsons and Seinfeld episode ... the person from history he'd most like to meet is NBA great Larry Bird ... Brad plans to major in engineering.
