    OXFORD, Ohio (AP) - Alex Shorts and Larry Drake scored 15 points each to lead Miami to a 77-50 victory over Western Michigan in the Mid-American Conference on Monday (Jan. 22).

    Drake was 5-of-5 from the field and 3-of-3 from 3-point range.

    Miami (8-10, 4-3 MAC) took a 21-18 lead with 5:20 left in the first half and stayed ahead of Western Michigan (2-14, 2-5) the rest of the way.

    Miami increased its lead to 20 points after a 11-0 run beginning at the 11:48 mark and ending with a score of 55-35 with 9:19 remaining. The RedHawks took their biggest lead of the game, moving ahead by 29 points, with only 27 seconds left to play.

    Miami led 29-24 at the half.

    The other RedHawks in double figures were Mike Ensminger with 13 points and Jason Grunkemeyer with 11. Ensminger led his team in rebounds with six.

    Jon Powell led scoring for Western Michigan with 14 points, while Robby Collum added 11. Collum grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.

    The RedHawks, playing their first game without starting point guard Doug Davis, had 13 turnovers. Davis is out with a dislocated toe.
