OXFORD, Ohio (AP) -- Matt Jameson's only basket of the game gave Miami University its first lead nearly five minutes into the second half, during a 14-0 run, and the RedHawks went on to beat Northern Illinois 57-46 Wednesday night.

Jason Grunkemeyer pumped in a game-high 17 points to lead Miami (13-12, 9-5 MAC). Mike Brown scored 13 points for Northern Illinois (4-18, 3-10).

The win put Miami over .500 for the first time this season and extended the RedHawks' victory streak to a season-high three games. It was the seventh straight loss for Northern Illinois, which had 20 turnovers and is winless in nine road games.

The score was tied three times in the first half as Northern Illinois never trailed and led 29-25 at halftime. But Northern Illinois scored just 17 points in the second half to finish with a season-low 46 points.

Northern Illinois went scoreless for nearly nine minutes while Alex Shorts started the decisive run for Miami with a layup. Juby Johnson made 1-of-2 free throws, and Jameson scored on an 8-footer off a fast break. Rich Allendorf had a tip-in, and Grunkemeyer finished the run with a pair of jumpers and a 3-pointer.

Grunkemeyer sank 7-of-11 field goals, including all three of his three-point attempts.

The RedHawks registered a season-high 12 steals, led by Jameson's career-high five picks.

Miami, which now has sole possession of third place in the MAC's East Division, travels to Akron Saturday for a 3 p.m. game at the JAR. Akron defeated Miami 56-46 in the first meeting at Millett Hall last month.
