OXFORD, Ohio (AP) - Tony Stanley scored 15 points, including a 3-pointer with 49 seconds remaining, to lead Dayton to a 55-54 victory over Miami on Wednesday (Dec. 6).
Miami (3-4) was leading Dayton (3-3) with a score of 52-46 at the 2:44 mark in the game. Stanley hit two 3-pointers to tie the game at 52-52 with 1:36 remaining. Alex
Shorts then made a jumper to give Miami a 2-point lead, but Stanley came back with his third consecutive 3-pointer to end the Flyer's game-ending 11-2 run.
Miami had two shots in the final 20 seconds but missed them both.
Dayton led the entire first half, which ended with the Flyers ahead 29-25. Miami didn't gain its first lead until the 16:46 mark in the second half on a bank shot by Julius
Johnson.
Stanley was 5-for-8 in 3-point shooting, helping Dayton finish 6-for-14 in 3-pointers. Miami was only 1-for-12 from 3-point range.
Keith Waleskowski added 13 points for Dayton, and David Morris scored 10. Yuanta Holland led his team in rebounding with 9.
