Adam Fletcher - August 11, 2009
This has been the best summer for improving my game that I have had in my four years at Miami. I was lucky enough to work out at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., for seven weeks and really work on body control and moves around the rim. When I was at IMG I had a chance to continue working on the strength and conditioning program that Coach Faehnle has given to the team. I currently weigh 245 pounds, and I am moving and jumping better than I ever have.
While at IMG, I had the chance to work out with and alongside some of the best college post players in NCAA (Tyrell Biggs, Derek Caracter, Tony Gaffney, Dujan Blair, Dave McCluer and Rob Kurz) everyday. Just through working out with them, I was able to gain a confidence no one can mess with. I was just as good as them in workouts everyday and was able to compete at the highest level up and down the court.
I have really increased my range to 18 feet as I am comfortable shooting from there in a 5-on-5 setting. While at IMG, I worked on my hip flexibility and being under control at a lower level, which should help me with my positioning around the block.
I am currently in South Carolina on vacation with my family and Adam Thomas. It is a great way for me to end the summer and prepare for my final season at Miami.
I am looking forward to the grind of the MAC season and battling with our team to win the MAC title. It has been a great summer for me--probably the best I have ever had--but I am more excited to get back with my teammates and start the long journey to the dance (NCAA Tournament).
This is the last in a series of updates from the Miami University men's basketball players throughout the summer.
