Eric Pollitz--July 3, 2008

This week I've been at Camp Luther, which is located in Conneaut, Ohio. It has been a relaxing yet eventful time. I just finished up with summer school last week and helped out with some of the Miami camps. Taking a break from the college life has been of great value, and I personally believe that good quality time with the family is essential.

Both of my brothers (Tim and Joel) are actually on staff at Camp Luther this year, which definitely makes things a lot more fun here. In addition to my brothers, my parents, my sister and some of our extended family are at Camp Luther this week. The environment of this camp is beautiful, and I love every opportunity to relish God's beauty not only through His creation but also with God's people as well.

Going to bible studies, playing fun family games and having crazy dress up meals are just the start of what this camp offers. While I've been here, I've been keeping in shape by swimming most mornings and also doing some strength training as well.

On Wednesday night, there was a special evening program that was very moving and interesting. The program was related to the Holocaust and had some interactive portions to the program. There are several more activities to enjoy before we head back home on Saturday.

When I get back home, I'll be working at a fitness center in my hometown of Ottawa, Ohio, for much of the rest of the summer. As many people may know, my dad is a pastor at a Lutheran church. Next week he is holding a Vacation Bible School/Basketball Camp, so I'll be helping him out with that as well.

Hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th of July!

This is the first in a series of updates from the Miami University men's basketball players throughout the summer.
