Rodney Haddix II -- June 30, 2009
My summer hasn't been as exciting as one would want it to be, but it has been one of the most productive summers that I have ever had. I am currently on campus and will remain here for the rest of the summer. I took a coaching workshop during the first summer term and just began a psychology class on June 29.
Basketball-wise, I have been working out every day along with some of my teammates, and I have made some great strides already. My numbers in the weight room have jumped significantly and my body has slimmed down.
I have started to play in the Deveroes League down in Cincinnati at Woodward High School. I am playing for the Jackson All-Stars along with Antonio Ballard, Carl Richburg, Tyler Dierkers, and our incoming freshmen (Drew Kelly, Drew McGhee, Orlando Williams and Allen Roberts). We lost our first game, but we were a little short on players only playing with five guys. Hopefully the next game will turn out better.
I have picked up a different summer job this year. Last year I worked for Miami grounds, but this year I moved indoors to the Rec Center. I work for operations, so basically I do a lot of custodial work, but it keeps me busy and allows me to have a little bit of money ... but not that much.
Like I said, I'm here for the whole summer so I don't really have any plans other than to get better every day and prepare myself to help lead this team towards another MAC title.
This is a continuation of a series of updates from the Miami University men's basketball players throughout the summer.
