OXFORD, Ohio--Rodney Haddix (Georgetown, Ky./Scott County High School/Findlay College Prep), a 6-foot-3, 200-pound guard, has signed a national letter of intent with Miami University's men's basketball team, head coach Charlie Coles announced Tuesday (May 15).
"Rodney Haddix is a very versatile player," said Coles. "We have a lot of players who can play more than one position, and Rodney is a player who can do that, so he fits in very well with our team. He's a good offensive player and is tremendous at penetrating off the dribble. He also is a good outside shooter, who is capable of being an excellent defender. We expect him to contribute to the team right away."
Last season, Haddix played at Findlay College Prep. At Scott County, Haddix averaged 19.1 points per game, 6.0 rebounds per game and 2.0 assists per game and propelled the team to an 81-14 record from 2003-06 and a No. 1 state ranking in 2005 and 2006. As a junior, he earned all-district, all-region and all-state plaudits. He was a letterwinner in basketball and football from 2003-06.
Haddix is the fourth player to sign a national letter of intent with Miami's men's basketball program, joining 6-foot-2, 170-pound guard Kenny Hayes (Dayton, Ohio/Northmont/Cincinnati State), 6-foot-7, 215-pound forward Dwight McCombs (Chicago, Ill./Whiney Young) and 6-foot-7, 197-pound forward Nick Winbush (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights), who all signed with the RedHawks in the fall during the early signing period.
Miami is coming off a season where it seized the Mid-American Conference Tournament title and made a third straight postseason appearance, earning the program's 17th NCAA Tournament berth.
