Miami (11-15, 8-7 Mid-American Conference) travels to Ball State (17-9, 10-5 MAC) on Saturday, Feb. 23 to battle the MAC West Division leader in a 6 p.m. contest to be televised on Fox Sports Ohio. The Cardinals have lost just one home contest this season and are a perfect 7-0 versus the MAC in Worthen Arena. BSU is coming off an 80-65 loss at Western Michigan on Wednesday and needs just one win over its last three games to clinch the West Division title. Miami, which sits in a three-way tie for fifth place with Toledo and Western Michigan, is trying to rebound from a 65-50 loss at home to Bowling Green on Wednesday and looking to end a three-game losing skid.
The Cardinals are an explosive offensive team, averaging 80.5 points per game. They are paced by Theron Smith, who averages 19.5 points per game and 10.9 rebounds per game. Patrick Jackson follows, averaging 17.6 ppg, while Lonnie Jones boasts 71 blocks this season.
Miami is paced by Alex Shorts, who averages 13.2 ppg, and Doug Davis, who averages 12.1 points per game and is producing 15.1 ppg in MAC games. Danny Horace leads the RedHawks on the boards, averaging 6.3 per game, while Chet Mason grabs a team-best 6.0 rebounds per game in league action.
