Final Stats

AMHERST N.Y. (AP) - Miami held Buffalo to its lowest point total since 1978-79 and beat the Bulls 63-35 in a Mid-American Conference contest.

Juby Johnson led the RedHawks (12-11, 10-4) with 12 points.

The Miami defense held Buffalo (4-19, 1-13) without a field goal for almost nine minutes while going on a 17-3 run. A basket by Tim Schenke capped the run with 6:45 left in the first half gave the RedHawks a 24-7 lead.

Miami increased the gap quickly the second half, connecting on three of its first four 3-point attempts as part of an 11-2 run.

Down the stretch the RedHawks led by as many as 32 points.

Buffalo turned the ball over 14 times and shot 20 percent from the field. The RedHawks had eight steals.

Miami had three other players in double figures. Chet Mason and Josh Hausfeld each scored 11 points, and Danny Horace had 10.

The Bulls, who have lost three in a row and 15 of their last 16 games, were led by Jason Bird's 11 points. Daniel Gilbert had 11 rebounds.

Horace was ejected for swinging at Buffalo's B.J. Walker with late in the first half. They got in a shoving match under the Bulls basket, and Horace eventually threw a right hand that was at least six inches short of connecting.

According to MAC rule, Horace will receive a minimum two-game suspension for being ejected for fighting.
