Miami vs. Bowling Green Postgame Notes
January 23, 2010
Oxford, Ohio - Millett Hall

Having been solid in blocked shots in its last three games, Miami continued that trend and amassed seven blocked shots Saturday, giving the RedHawks 24 in their last four games. Senior center Adam Fletcher, junior forward Nick Winbush and junior guard/forward Antonio Ballard each had two, while junior guard Rodney Haddix II added one against the Falcons

Junior forward Nick Winbush posted his seventh double-figure scoring effort of the season and the first since scoring 13 points at Cincinnati on Dec. 10. Winbush finished with 13 points against the Falcons on 5-of-7 shooting, including 3-of-4 from 3-point land.

Miami used a 13-0 run from 11:02 to 7:46 to pull Miami from a three-point deficit to a 10-point lead, which was the biggest advantage for either team at the time, 46-36. Junior forward Nick Winbush and junior guard/forward Antonio Ballard scored five apiece during the run. Those were Ballard’s first points of the game.

Continuing a pattern of strong second-half efforts at home, Miami shot 66.7 percent in the second half, a single-half season-best, against the Falcons compared to just 30.4 percent in the first half. Additionally, Miami scored 19 points in the first half and a whopping 45 in the second half, most of which came at the free throw line where the RedHawks were 1-of-4 in the first half and 18-of-24 in the second. In all three second-half outbursts, Miami trailed at halftime and came back to win.

Sophomore forward/center Julian Mavunga amassed 11 points and 11 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season and of his career. It was his sixth double-figure rebounding effort of the season.
