After three years on staff with the Miami University men's basketball program, Jimmy Lallathin was promoted to an assistant coach in July 2010.
"Jimmy brings a great amount of energy and enthusiasm to the position and will make a seamless transition as an assistant coach," said Miami University Head Coach Charlie Coles. "Over the last three years, he has been innovative with his duties and has helped elevate us in many aspects of the program. His can-do attitude makes him a pleasure to work with day-in and day-out, and I look forward to him furthering his career with us in this position."
Lallathin joined the Miami staff in August 2007 as the administrative assistant with the Miami men's basketball program and was hired in July 2008 as the program's director of operations.
Lallathin has been a vital part of the day-to-day operations for Miami Basketball during his tenure, overseeing film exchange, film edits, study tables and handling team travel arrangements. He also has been instrumental in initiating Miami's Elite Individual and Elite Team camps and assists with Sixth Man Club operations.
He joined the Miami program after a four-year stint as the associate varsity head coach at Lakota West High School. During his time with the Firebirds, Lakota West compiled a 72-23 overall mark and a 44-16 league record. The 2005-06 squad recorded a 23-3 mark, finishing first in the GMC and earning a No. 1 city ranking, while advancing to the state regional finals and attaining a No. 8 state ranking.
Lallathin spent four years as an intervention specialist, teaching math and science at Lakota West High School. He served as the Lakota West Basketball Camp Director from 2000-07 and Firebird Summer Hoops Director from 1999-07. Additionally, he was a Cincinnati AAU Head Coach from 2006-07.
A native of West Chester, Ohio, Lallathin prepped at Lakota High School where he was a three-year varsity starter, earning All-GMC honors as a junior and senior. Lallathin spent two years at Marietta College, where he was a two-year letterwinner. He transferred to Miami in 1999 and earned his bachelor's degree in education at Miami in 2003.
Lallathin and his wife, Robyn, reside in Middletown.
