After a 9-0 red team win in the first game of the Red and White Series, the next two games of the series displayed clutch hitting and solid pitching, providing a glimpse of what is to come in the 2008 season.
Game two of the Red and White Series saw a good young pitching match-up between freshman John Greene and sophomore lefthander Nick Kurash. Greene threw three innings of one-hit baseball for the Red Team and ended up with a win due to a solid offensive day from his teammates. John Hornke put together a 2-for-3 afternoon, including a double and a home run. Hornke drove in two runs and scored two runs for the Red Team. Alongside Hornke, Adam Weisenberger had two hits for the red team, while Evan Armitage and Blake Chaffee both had two hits apiece for the white team. The red team won the seven-inning affair, 5-3, and Greene earned the win while Jamaal Hollis picked up the save. Kurash picked up the loss for the white team.
Game three of the series turned into an extra innings contest as the game finished in a 5-5 tie at the end of 10 innings. The white team had solid pitching from Steve Antoniotti and Brad Wilder, who combined to pitch six innings, giving up just one run. For the red team, Matt Erwood pitched one scoreless inning, striking out two batters and giving up one walk. Offensively, Tommy Nurre and Jon Edgington corralled two hits apiece for the red team, while Brad Gschwind went 3-for-5 for the white team and scored two runs. The key play of the game was a two-out double by Jordan Petraitis to tie the game in the bottom of the 10th inning.
